Art Direction

An immersive project dedicated to the world of naval aviation, where I oversaw the artistic direction of the entire activation, ensuring visual and narrative consistency across every phase. I coordinated content development and the production of both video and photo outputs, defining the visual language, style and storytelling of the experience. I also led the artistic direction of the official campaign videos for the two featured timepieces, ensuring creative continuity and high-quality execution. The result is an integrated visual and narrative ecosystem that enhances the project’s identity and strengthens the connection between product, performance and the naval world.

Challenge

Stepping for the first time into an active Italian military base in Taranto was already unfamiliar territory, but the real challenge began once we needed to secure access and cooperation for filming. Convincing the crew to let an operator hang from a military helicopter to capture aerial shots was not exactly a casual request, and negotiating that trust took persistence. On top of that, the pace was intense: constantly being rushed from one location to another while still needing to find clean angles for photography and video in a highly controlled environment. To make things more interesting, the timeline was unforgiving. Delivering more than 300 final photos and a complete video in multiple formats meant every hour counted.

Solution

We approached the project with precision and flexibility, adapting quickly to the logistical constraints and maintaining a close collaboration with the military team on-site. Establishing clear communication and demonstrating technical competence helped us secure the helicopter access and shoot safely without compromising quality. On the ground, a tight visual plan allowed us to maximise every movement between locations, identifying the strongest compositions on the fly while still keeping the narrative thread intact. The post-production workflow was streamlined from the start, enabling us to process, select and deliver the full body of work within the deadline. The final result matched the ambition of the project, despite the pressure, the pace and the altitude.
